Most Distant

By ‘most distant’ I mean caches that are furthest from a road or a place where you can park.

The overall honour goes to the end of the road is nigh in Lewis which involves a walk of around four miles there and, of course, four miles back.

On Harris the most distant is The China Connection (1)? which is 1.85 miles as the crow flies from the nearest road but, of course you can’t get there in a straight line and there are no paths across some of the most challenging terrain in the whole of the British Isles! Another challenge is to decide which road point to start from!

In The Uists the honour seems to go to High Isles – Eriskay which looks to be a reasonable uphill walk

Barra is quite unusual in that none of the caches are really close to roads but the most distant is The Barra 1d Cache which will involve a trek of just over a mile across rough country

I suppose though that truly the most distant are those on St. Kilda which are about a four hour boat ride from where you leave your car!
