St. Kilda

What more can be said about the magical St. Kilda? There are plenty of books, plenty of websites and plenty of information but if you are going geocaching on St. Kilda you probably know most of it anyway. Besides nobody is going all the way to St. Kilda just to pick up a couple of caches are they? You go to St. Kilda for the same reason Hillary climbed Everest!

There are at least three companies who do day trips to St. Kilda but it will set you back about £190 per person. A lot of money but perhaps not so much for a once in a lifetime experience.

As for the caches, there are just the two and there really isn’t a need for any more. Just pick them up if you get the chance to visit this amazing place.

You know what is really amazing though? One of the caches on St. Kilda has been found more times than 77 other caches in the Western Isles!

I would like to visit St Kilda but am not aware of the companies that can get me there or if they go all year round. Does any contributor know where, how and when information

Brian, There are at least three companies that go to St. Kilda but I think they all do trips only from April to September. Sea Harris run from Leverburgh in South Harris, Kilda Cruises run from Tarbert in North Harris and Sea Trek go from Miavaig over at Uig in Lewis. All three have websites so you should find them via Google. It’s not a cheap trip at around £190 but you can occasionally get a discount on a last minute booking.
